Good Putting

Most golfers, after they have hit a few putts, do fairly well with direction. I have always taught beginners that distance is more important than line on a longer, “lag” putt.
A great drill to practice distance is the “4 ball drill.” Take four balls to any location on the green and putt one each North, South, East and West (See Figure 1). Putt to the edge of the green only with no focus on direction. Try to leave the ball right on the edge (See Figure 2). Change locations around the middle of the green for variety.
